Sounds operation to control deer and goats

The Trust recently led an operation to control wild deer and goats that have been destroying the Sounds bush. The operation was initiated by 250 Marlborough Sounds landowners who raised about $180,000 for the hunting operations targeting deer and goats in the past 12 months.

“What we are doing is a population reset, we are trying to get the head [count] down from those really high and damaging numbers that they've got to, to a level where they are not destroying the forest.”
